About Mad Mats
Mad Mats are funky, custom-printed mats for the homes, parties and offices of people who don’t do beige.
We’re a marketplace, not just a shop. You can design your own mat from scratch in our customiser, or pick one from our gallery of designs by other Mad Mats users. Every mat is made to order in our Melbourne facility — no inventory, no warehouses full of “almost what you wanted”.
The side-hustle bit
Here’s where it gets interesting. When you buy a mat you designed, it goes into our public gallery as a buyable product. Every time someone else buys it, you earn $28–$90 (depending on the size they pick — that’s 20% of the ex-GST product price).
Rebates are tracked to the cent in your My Earnings dashboard. During our launch we pay out manually when your balance hits $50 — fully automated payouts via Stripe Connect Express land in our next release.
If you’re not into buying mats but you draw, paint, or photograph — you can list a design for $20 and earn the same rebate. Pure creator mode.
Where we come from
Mad Mats is part of the Mats R Us Group, a family of mat businesses that’s been making custom-printed mats for over 20 years — bar mats for pubs and breweries, exhibition tiles for trade shows at ICC Sydney, MCEC Melbourne and BCEC Brisbane, branded entrance mats for offices nationwide.
Mad Mats is the consumer-facing one, where we get to be less serious. Take our gentlemen cat doormat. Or the “Surely Not Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting” welcome mat. Or just a giant photo of your dog. Whatever makes you laugh when you walk in the door.
